  • To support him. I hope he finds what he is looking for.

  • I understand what Gackt is saying. He has gained this insight from the ups and downs of tons of relationships. I have finally gained it from the ups and downs of years in one marriage. Men and women ARE different. A good relationship is built on respect and love, starting with respecting the differences between men and women as well as good communication to keep it strong. Who works or stands where is not the central issue. If a man looks out for a woman, she will do all in her power to suppo

  • Hate* not Have

  • Sometimes I have how that women laugh

  • I've had a lot to think about since last commenting on this. And ya know, I wouldn't mind feeling protected, not because I'm a woman but because someone wants to because they care about me, if you love someone you should have that instinct of protecting them, male or female. I'd hate it if someone ran off if I was being attacked to deal with it on my own.

As long as he has nothing against women working, building up a career, then I haven't got much beef with him.

  • IMHO I agree with his way of thinking. Does it make me less of a woman to find what he says appealing? I don't think it's sexiest. Personally have no problem walking behind a man in public, but standing by his side in private. I want to be treated as the girl/woman in the relationship and letting the man be the man. I get tired of women pigeonholing all women to what they think a 'real ' woman should be like and if she agrees with something like this, somehow she's a traitor.

  • Calling his views sexist is not fair at all. Personally, as an American (young) women, even I agree with him. Although I feel that I can take care of myself and can do whatever I want, I don't want a man who will treat me like he would another man. Men and women have different strengths. Of course not all women are the same, but I think a lot of Western women take their feminine powers for granted. Why is being feminine so looked down upon? Not all women want to work in a pantsuit and be treate

  • I agree that his opinions sound sexist but I also think there is a point there too. Cultural background aside, there's no way to erase millions of years of evolution just like that. The fact remains that men and women ARE different, both physically and mentally. There's nothing wrong with that. Genders balance each other nicely. I think he's just stating that fact. Besides, I've never heard him call women inferior or less valuable than men. So let's not get this out of the proportion shall we?

  • @AbraCadaverArson. Agreed. I'm disappointed that it is his view, but I suppose it's part of the culture he was brought up in. I'll still like his music, but again, just surprised he has such an archaic view on gender roles. His talk about protecting women behind you? What if they get attacked from behind? That kind of honor where you attack face-to-face doesn't exist anymore, such as muggers etc. I think it's best if it is side-by-side. The former is a stupid, sexist concept.

  • What he is saying here IS sexist, and while you can like his music you can't just be an apologist and try to reason what he is saying. I wouldn't do it with anyone else and certainly not with a singer I happen to like. What he is saying is putting down both genders, and expressing dissatisfaction with the breaking down of truly ARCHAIC gender roles. (A man should be aggressive/masculine while a woman should be submissive/feminine. Anyone can be whatever they want!). What a stupid stupid concept.

  • @alexis2443 yeaah it's from the video. XDDD

  • of course there is an awesome t-shirt (featuring a girl) saying "dont walk behind me you arent my slave; don't walk beside me you arent my equal; walk in front of me because you have a DAMN fine ass!" (i want this tee for christmas lol)

  • when he talked before (on king's banquet) about woman walking behind i actually had to look that up - it was done not only in japan but also in europe as well to protect the woman from muggers or even from dirt flying up from the street - when i read that and understand i thought that was sweet - now guys wont even hold a door open for a girl (partly our fault so they dont know HOW to react - at least here in the west)

  • @lucieluke Thank you =) Actually not long ago there was a big debate on live journal about this and a lot of people came up with some answers I hadn't thought of before and I now think differently. I am glad it's not what I feared it would be.

  • The beautiful lady seems to be fond of Gackt.

  • @PuffyAmiYumi He didn't say women should remain weak. But that men should man up and be able to protect a woman in order to be worth her love and her trust. In return, women should also respect him, trust him and protech him. If you listen to the end of this interview,he even said he can fall in love with women who are capable to lead. By the way, out of this interview, he's sometimes expressed his admiration for some women like his older sister and he never described her as weak.

  • Is the howl from this video, lol... I was listening with my headset... And there goes awooo in my right ear. what was that? that creeps me off?

  • @VocaloidAnime1924 Also, he says in the world and not just Japan, he says he has spoken to American women for example. And says also that he doesn't agree with the walking side by side. Now if he means we should protect those we love I totally agree, but if he means just because we are women...well I'm sad to think that not only does he might think we are all weak, but that we should stay that way...

  • @VocaloidAnime1924 I guess so, but I wonder, if he knew the situation, would he accept it? Does he know that there are women in the world that mostly want independence and "act like a man" not because they have to but because they want to?

  • Gackt-san have to teach philosophy! hes very good at it!

  • I know he is being a bit biased here....but look, he is from Japan, he does not really know the situation between men and woman in other countries in the world. Don't lose respect for him....I think he did speak a lot of good words, but he does not understand the situation in each country that well enough. Don't be hard on Gackt!! I come from an asiancountry where woman are illtreated by men (who are more in population), even though women are aggressive too.

  • @florzelenogor Oh that's true, we both have responsibilities, definitely. I just didn't want to get the wrong end of the stick, and although have misunderstood things, I am trying to understand rather than just write him off as someone who has so called "sexist" thoughts, because of what I've heard from others and have misinterpreted. Because I kept thinking, someone who is really sexist, doesn't usually come off as someone who is kind and caring, and I think he is kind and caring =)

  • @AgitoFang Hmm it makes sense, although, I have worried myself, sadly it's always been for good reason, but I never pester, I don't confront, I just sort of sit there and get depressed until I find out I am right. Hopefully ones day I'll find someone who won't make me worry like that.

  • @PuffyAmiYumi I can't say, because that's his life. But I guess even it's about love, things are very much alike to a teamwork. It's always depend on everyone within the team, but the one who can handle better with the concrete instant situation is the one who stands in front and takes control. I don't know about Gackt's limits to be always "the better one", but I like the point of the conversation. It will be good if there are more men saying - I'll take the responsibility for this:):):)

  • A wise man at a young age.
