Some test rounds at St Silas Blackburn before a successful quarter of Grandsire Triples, rounding off a successful but very hot weekend in lovely Lancs. This is an absolutely beautiful church by Paley & Austin who designed a lot of churches in the North-West during the Victorian period, probably the most famous and biggest being St George Stockport. The bells were cast for Holy Trinity, Blackburn by Taylors in 1880 but moved here and installed in a 10-bell frame in 1983.

  • I NEARLY rang here. NEARLY. Not a bad set.

Brian Owen doing a great job on the tenor there!!

  • not bad at all, but the church deserves a really fine ring - it's very grand!

  • Is Gary the only one with a phallus.. sorry, Yorkshire Tail?

  • yes, because the Blackburn branch striking contest is coming up at Accrington and they have a learner covering who needs to practice. This is a homemade device but quite comfortable especially with my sore hands!
