Composed by Elizabeth Kalau Alohikea then converted to instrumental ki ho'alu by Slack key legend Uncle Fred Punahoa & popularized by slack key virtuoso Ledward Kaapana. Here it is played by my haumana (student) Reid Tsutsumi. I am out of the picture playing rhythm. I'm very proud of how far he has come in studying ki ho'alu.

  • @CalenCoffman On behalf of Reid I thank you very much Calen. Mahalo for acknowledging my student who has invested a lot of time & effort to get to where he's at now. Encouraging words from supportive people like you are sure to inspire Reid to keep plugging away at it. Thank you from me too.

  • @abrigoohana Hey Lanet and yes it's so rewarding to see a haumana making strides. Great thing is that all my students are taught with the stipulation that they will share all the mana'o acquired from me with at least one other person somewhere down the line. Hopefully some will make it their kuleana as I have.

    Hugs

    Duke

  • @Nelsonisms Glad you appreciate Reid's hard work in studying ki ho'alu with me. Yup all of slack key is digestible if you have the persistence. We can all learn a lot of ki ho'alu even without channeling a slack key virtuoso like Led. Good luck in your pursuit & know that I am forever a haumana(student) of ki ho'alu.

    Warmest Aloha

    Duke
