@Punkandfunk420 Your mum went to a bad hypnotherapist. Read books of Milton Erickson (psychologist, psychiatrist), he made a huge number of experiments on hypnosis. I don't like stage hypnosis but I do support clinical hypnosis which has a huge number of beneficial health applications. Read also David Elman book "Hypnotherapy".

Exactly. It works for some and not for others. Thats reason to not take it seriously. It has WAY too many inconsistancies. Have you ever heard of a placebo? To me hypnosis is a placebo. You thought it would work so bad, that you started studying. You didn't need the tapes. I'm sure you could have done it on your own. The ppl it works on probably believe in it, and those it doesn't work on, don't. Making it a sort of placebo. Of course thats just my theory....

well in some aspects it works and I am basing it on my life. When I was in Year 10 I never really studied and when I started to listen to hypnosis tapes on 'how to study' it was slowly working at the begining and 2 months down the track all I did was study. In the 1st semester i fucked up and in the 2nd semester i did really well. it works for some and it doesn't work for others

Psychology is hard because its blurry and its hard to come across any real evidence. Hypnotism is the only thing I am not open minded about. Why? My mom went to one to quit smoking. 10 minutes after the session she lights up a cigarette. Plus hypnosis doesn't explain anything. Its just toying with people's consciousness.

psychology is not any easy field to comprehend because primarily it works on the notion of whether human action is dependent on free will or determinism. and that is why you got so many schools of thought that look at how human action is developed and hypnosis is just another explanation among many in this ocean of madness
