SAVAS OZKOK - TURKEY - Turquoise Production

Non content d'être un excellent kanuni, le jeune Savas Özkök est un artiste qui aime marcher hors des sentiers battus, s'attachant par exemple à faire redécouvrir des oeuvres méconnues du répertoire traditionnel turc d'inspiration savante. Tout en poursuivant des études supérieures, il participe par ailleurs à de nombreux concerts avec les Derviches Tourneurs de Konya ou le New Istanbul Oriental Ensemble dirigé par Burhan Öçal. Depuis 2008, il accompagne régulièrement le Choeur de Musique Classique Turque de Bursa. Remarqué lors d'un concert solo au Festival Tarab Tanger en 2009, il s'est vu récompensé cette année par le Prix Ziryab des Virtuoses décerné à Rabat par le Comité National de la Musique.

Apart being an exceptionnel kanun virtuoso, Savas Ozkok is an artist who leaves the beaten tracks to rediscover neglected works of the erudite Turkish tradition. In the last years, he participated to several concerts with the Whirling Dervishes of Konya and the New Istanbul Oriental Ensemble of Burhan Ocal. Since 2008, he has been also accompanying the Turkish Classical Music Choir of Bursa. After a brillant solo concert at Festival Tarab Tanger in 2009, he received this year the Ziryab Virtuosi Award, bestowed by the National Comity of Music in Rabat.
