Sorry I didn't mean to double post, I didn't realize my first comment posted. But just because the file becomes "playable" doesn't mean that its been converted. The file will play fine sometimes, however if you actually wanted to do editing with this clip, you need to actually convert it. The program I use for .mod conversions is called MpegStreamclip and it actually converts the file instead of renaming it.
I'm a video editor by profession and I can assure you that converting isn't that easy.

@pirategirlsj sorry for the late reply, actually late is an understatement *blushes* thanks for the compliment! and as for the confusion in the video, yeah i just started recording with a rough idea of what i was saying in the vid. So in some bits i kinna ramble :(

It's a confusing video, but your accent is cool. (: go irish.
Everybody This Does Work !!! I have just tried to load a .mov file from my Panasonic Video Camera into Windows DVD Maker and it wouldn't work. I created a copy and followed the steps in the video and changed the copy to .mpg , The .mpg file will load into Windows DVD Maker and burn to DVD. This is so simple you do not need a video converter for this type of change.

@1234ibanez Thanks for the vote of confidence! It's quite an old vid at this stage. I've gone from XP to vista to 7 to ubuntu since then (and changed laptops). I'm just not that into making vids anymore. Feel free to ask a question and I'll see if I can help out as my account is still active as I use it for subscriptions and making comments.

The only thing this is doing is changing the name of the file, not converting it, which isn't going to help you especially if you want to edit the video you are trying to convert.

@littleman06 please don't double post, it's not word for word the same post but it's pretty much the same meaning, why bother rewording something you already posted?

All this is doing is changing the name of the file, not converting it. This is not a solution thats going to help anyone, especially if they want to edit with the video.

@littleman06 well as i demonstrated, the file was unplayable before and after the "conversion" process it became playable. It not just a simple renaming of the file, i have converted .txt files to .doc files using this method
