This is actually an arrangement of a Christmas carol that is very popular in Finland, "Tuo Armon valkokyyhky". It is strongly related to the "Es ist ein Ros entsprungen". You find my arrangement (lute tabulature in pdf) and some more carols in page http://www.cs.helsinki.fi/u/wikla/mus/10_courseLute/Carols/ . The lute is "Andreas Berr, Vienna, 1699" by Stephen Barber 1986. Arto Wikla 17.12.2008.

LOVE this. Your music has a clear, gentle sound to it. Quite lovely. I would totally buy a Christmas album of your playing. Thanks for sharing, hope you don't mind I posted it on my blog because I liked it so much. :)
Merry Christmas!

"Es ist ein Roß entsprungen" (in German) means "Once there was a jumping horse" (in English). It's an old Prussian Cavalry song - and normally played much faster...gallop style!
But your playing of the lute was very enchanting.

Very much enjoyed that. With the holidays coming up, I wish that my lute had an extra two courses. :(
Perhaps I can still adapt your tablature for an 8-course lute.

Thank you for your lovely Christmas carols on the lute. All or most of them are well known in Germany as well. Your lute seems to have a very wide neck. How many courses?
