Dunmurry Protestant Boys First Parade and Competition

Dunmurry is situated between Belfast and Lisburn, and is about 10 miles from Belfast. Once an agricultural village, Dunmurry expanded rapidly in the 1950s. DeLorean cars (the DMC-12 famously starred in the film Back to the Future) were built here for a brief period in the early 1980s.

The Dunmurry Protestant Boys Flute Band was formed in May 2010, and, on the evidence of its playing in this video, has achieved much since then. During 2010 the band established itself on the band circuit and on 10 September 2011 it held its first band parade. Over 30 bands came to support the occasion which was blessed with warm, dry but windy weather.

The band and its supporters are to be congratulated on an impressively well organised evening. The prizewinners' list was made available in the public domain very quickly after the parade and this made it possible to include all the first place winners in this video. The video was shot between 7.30 and 10.30 pm. Bands playing are:
