Israeli MDA (Magen David Adom) paramedic, Shira Applebaum Maresky, will be in town on the evening of May 31st to speak to us about her father and sister, who were murdered in the Café Hillel suicide bombing on the eve of a great family simcha and how she carries on their legacy in her work today.
Maresky, who was born in Jerusalem and still lives there today, is daughter of Rabbi Dr. David Applebaum Z"L of NY and the sister of Navah Appelbaum who was a renowned medical researcher. Maresky has been a paramedic in MDA Jerusalem for five years and a certified instructor who has trained international Red Cross staff.
After completing her BA in Emergency Medicine at Ben Gurion University (BGU), she earned her Master's degree in Mass Casualty and Disaster Management at BGU.
The Kollel is proud to be presenting this amazing opportunity together with the Vancouver chapter of CMDA (Canadian Magen David Adom) to draw perspective and exceptional inspiration from Shira's tragically moving story.
