College Grads go to Junior College for Job Skills

A college degree was supposed to get them a good job. So why are they attending junior colleges now?

i think you would like my technical college. Interactive college of technology is a 2 year school that is run by a dean who has a degree handed to him by the school so he is running an academic institution with nothing more than an associates he did not even earn.

The reality is that people with Masters (I have one myself) are often considered "overqualified". I've heard that many are going to jr colleges to get AA's because they are more marketable. I've considered changing careers myself because my degree is pretty much worthless.

How do we get a job, when most good jobs require a bacehlors degree ! Its so useless, we need technical education not this liberal arts bullshit.

Just ask my uncle if this is true. He has a BA in Public Relations and Mass Comm. and desperately needed a job because he had a baby on the way. So he looked for one, and couldn't nail one down. He eventually settled to take a job polishing floors in a hospital to pay for a trip to Votech to become an X-ray tech.

Why did he need to go to Votech if he had a degree, and why did he need to polish floors? Don't you get a great job with a degree?

This was in '94 when the economy was booming, btw

@DontGoToCollege Im getting My BA in Political science and a minor in International developmental studies from a Private University in san diego Point Loma and I've already starting networking and secured connections i can go into government start my own business or go work for a company my point is unlimited possibilities so just because you don't have the determination to go out and get a REAL education don't sit here and preach to people get a real job.

@littlenickyn not true. higher degree doesnt always equal higher pay, for examplem If you have a 4 year business degree and decide to get your masters it won't do much for you. Actually the most successful business people are people who didn't even attend college or were drop-outs. Unless you going for health/medicine, a hard science/math, teaching and possibly law I on't even see purpose of getting a master or PHD...

College is a lie. It has ruined my life. I think back to all the things I could have done and now am regretting the choice I made. I hope some college students will re-think what major they chose and other options that are out there. to add more fuel to the fire. At one of my jobs I met people who were released from prison for various crimes and are doing so much better than me. I've met some who haven't even earned a GED and are making more money than I.
