http://www.caninegames.com - Keep your dog active all winter long. The indoor swimming facility at Paws to Swim in Rockville, VA has 2 pools that have been designed specifically for dogs. Lucas loves his weekly swim trips! It is great exercise for older dogs or dogs with arthritis.

  • Many people bring their dogs to the indoor swimming pool for the winter months and head back out to their local ponds, lakes etc.. in the summer.

I wouldn't think swimming in extremely cold water would be good for any dog, but that is a question I would bring to the attention of your local vet.

  • Pools for dogs are not used because it's cold or hot outside. They are for rehabilitation, and hell it's fun.

Lucas (the dog in the video) is 13 and has arthritis in both knees from a TPLO surgery he went through at age 3. There just isn't any better exercise than swimming since it's not hard on the joints.

Both pool entrances are ramps which allow dogs that are recovering from surgery or simply aren't very sure footed any longer due to age or other problems easily enter the pool.

  • Where is that pool?

  • dunno i real,ly want to know

  • where is that pool?

  • I forgot to ask that question during her last visit to the vet, I'll ask next time for sure.

One of the things I read when we first got her was how labs have a remarkable tolerance to cold water, but I suppose the onset of arthritis would change that. If she worsens, I'll look for calmer, warmer, indoor seas for her to swim...looks like fun.

  • Thanks, he's my baby boy. I always say he's got my eyes and his daddy's brown nose. :)

  • Helluva cute dog btw :)
