@1myrnas how wonderful.. congratulations.. feeding and rescuing hungry fellow living beings is really one of the few truly meaningful things one can do in one's life... (i'm excluding mosquitoes, cockroaches and other vermins in the "fellow living being"list... :p:p )

Awww, reminds me of when I took in a baby robin for a couple of days. I wish now I'd gotten some video footage, but I didn't think about it. I even went to Starbucks the day after I found him and he stayed on my shoulder the whole time I made and waited for my order!
did he end up surviving?

there are several wonderful books on hummingbirds. they are very interesting but they do need constant nourishment. i love the little guys. we live in the low foothills so we have lots of them. never enough...

why does the mixture have to be red??

i only made it red because the humming bird is attracted to bright colors. i knew the bird had been struggling for a long time in very hot weather so i knew it needed something quick. i was trying to attract the bird to the food with the color. it was all i had to work with in the remote foothills we live in
