he's getting the souls the first time because the speed run you are seeing, is the best of about 1000 he has done in between the time he saves the game. what you are watching is the ultimate supreme finished run, which is why he has the souls he has, because of the luck of the run.

The music from the arena brings back some of my favorite memories of this game. After I beat it I spent most of my time in there just running around....What else do you do after you beat it? I restarted then beat it again but the biggest pay off is just playing until you have all the souls maxed out and the entire map explored.

Could save some time in the floating garden, by going first left then right. That way you'll end up at the Julius section a bit faster.

The Army of Bats forming up to become one big bat has been done in other castlevania games.
