The Story: A small town, Jiwali [does not excist in real life], has 10 'Heads',, that's 10 men that decide everything that happens in the town. A girl Laila, Kareena Kapoor, and a guy, Sunil, Hrithik Roshan, are teens who live there. Both hate each other in the beginning, and it stats as a fight between the sexes, but when the dance teacher, Mr. Dev Jaswinder, sees Laila and Sunil dance a rival-dance(where the boys and the girls give each other comments, abt why their sex is best), and decides to make them the golden couple, and save the Jiwali reputation. Both Laila and Sunil decline, but the old man threatens with making them flunk, so they enter the schools dance-class. Both become really good friends, and soon Laila falls for Sunil. Sunil on the other hand falls for Anajali; a beautiful co-dancer. Anajali and Sunil become lovers, and Sunil keeps asking Laila for help, not knowing Laila gets hurt all the time.
But troubles at home makes Laila leave Jiwali, leaving Jiwali in the semi's of dancing competition.
8 YEARS LATER.
When Dev Jaswinder dies the school in Jiwali needs a teacher, Sunil and Jaswinders co-worker try to find Laila, they sucseed but dont see what they expected. Laila has become a sucsess in Mumbai as a dancer, under the name Anita.. Sunil is choked but leaves Mumbai before meeting her, becouse of a emergency. Laila, now Anita, refuses to go back to Jiwali, but when she gets to know that her best friend, Seema, had an accident she rushes over to see her. When she comes back she finds out that Seema has lost both legs in a car accident. After talking to her and finding out that Anajali(Sunil's fiance) left Jiwali for the same reason she did, and got to kbow that Sunil is heartbroken, she decides to go see the town she hasn't seen for 8 years. While walking through the streets of Jiwali she sees girls dancing in a circle to drums. She goes and asks how long they have been doing it, one of the dancing girls looks mean at her(mainly because of her verstern clothing), and sais: ''Ringi-ki-Rani never does anything...'' but gets interupted buy Laila who sais '' without her ring-ring''... Laila takes sum bangels(acually dancing belles, that you put around you're ankels) puts them on and tells the drummer to 'hit it'.. after 10 minuts of ringing the girl stops and looks evil at her. Laila meets her eyes and says ''i was ringi-ki-rani before you could walk''.. Then turns around and walks towards the school.. In the school she accepts the the teachers position, where she meets the troublemaker Vikram, Shahid Kapoor. The rich girl Kajal that is not allowed to dance, Amrita Rao. The sports freak, Nikhil, that is suspended from dancing, Zayed Khan. The tomgirl, CJ(Chandni Jhangini) that only joined because of her friend Kajal, Esha Deol. The poet, Arjun, that can sweettalk himself out of everything, Vivek Oberoi. The Ringi-Ki-Rani, Laxhmi(Lucky), that gets to know that she isn't the best dancer in the world, Dia Mirza. The mr. popularity, Karan, that gets to know that there are more important things then popularity, Aftab Shivdasani and the prettyface, Sapna, that gets to know she isnt the prettiest girl anymore, Amisha Patel...
