Hey everybody, I'm back from my unexpected hiatus with videos of a different game! Don't worry don't worry, I'm not quitting IWBTG. I just figured that my arms deserved a break from all the button mashing and took a break to a different game. Originally I was going to play... Super Metroid, or Resident Evil just as a break but trouble recording either made me decide to just step up and start sittings on the game I was already going to play next. This is the first and last sitting of Cave Story until I finish IWBTG, but then this will be the game to play! :)
Cave-Story is an interesting little RPG-ish dungeon crawler. A sort of hybrid of Castlevania/Metroid/Mario/Megaman/What-have-you I only played for about five minutes or so and it seemed to be working fine so I decided to start recording it. My computer's memory cringed as both the recorder and game decided to have a little game of fist'i'cuffs and caused the game to lag on large screens (like the egg corridor) much more than it should have. Fortunately by the time I am done with IWBTG I should have my memory upgraded from 512mb to 2gb so that should fix the framerate issue (think it's entirely the memory killing be from the game loading the entire room into memory)
Cave Story was designed and created by a single man, Studio Pixel. You can find the game download at http://www.miraigamer.net/cavestory/ along with an english translation patch you install over it.
For those of you interested at all, I am trying a new method of filming my games in this video so that you can actually hear the background music. Tell me what you think!
Know what you mean ecam, I hope to make something like Cave Story myself some day :)
