  • The Idle Race, The Move. E.L.O. all from Birmingam England...and so am I (that's my claim to fame)! I was only 14 when I bought the "Skeleton and the Roundabout" record..it cost me 1 Shilling! (5 pence in decimal money). Now I'm 56...where did all those years go?.....scary!

    Thanks for the nice memories.

  • this is a very awesome song i wish i lived in the 60s or the 70s but unfortuneately i'm only 15

  • I used to listen to this on my Transistor Radio on Radio Caroline. Oh what memories it brings back.

  • my older brother played this song - and others from that era - it influenced me - great humour - miss that time and my brother

  • @blonde7000 I heard this once or twice on the Kenny Everett radio programme and all I could remember was the Roundabout bit and the La L a La La la-ing. I heard it again on SOS with Brian Matthew and its great to have access to it again.

  • susan richardson played this on Manx Radio once i jotted it down on a piece of paper i only knew it as skeleton on a roundabout

  • Their best gigs were in Kidderminster in the old days, then maybe a party in Belbroughton, - C/Corbett or Wolverley. Finding this on here is total nostalgia for me, what happened to the time? Anyone else remember Cranages in Stourbridge, Frank Freemans in Kidder or Mothers in B'ham? Rob Plant if you ever see this you still owe me a tenner, give it to Rick next time you see him...And, whatever happened to Sandra Nash?

  • Great song tried to get it played on radio, no chance they had never heard it. bring back the sixties

  • I used to go to most of there gigs in Wolverhamton England. I went so many times that I used to load there gear in the van. I think Jeff Lynn owes me a beer or three.

They were a great band and of course always a bunch of fights.

  • The Skeleton And The Roundabout - The Idle Race [Birmingham, England] - 1968 - "AMG Pick. The single 'Skeleton and the Roundabout' may be a little over-produced, but it is beguilingly innocent in its zaniness, and the softer middle section anticipates the structure of Lynne's later work with ELO." - Back to the Story [Original Recording Remastered] [Import Hong Kong] (EMI Records Ltd.) (Disc 1)-2007.

  • @elofan567 the 15 year old has excellent taste perhaps.
