In the early days of her career, the Tanzanian wilderness set the scene for Jane Goodall's pioneering research into chimpanzees that would see her become the world's best known primatologist.

These days the jungles of the world's classrooms provide the backdrop to what could be her most important work to date. During her visit to Hong Kong last week, at a talk arranged by AmCham, Dr Goodall explains that she now devotes her life to raising awareness of our planet's plight through her Roots & Shoots initiative.

Dr Goodall believes schools are not doing enough to teach children about the environment. She would like to see parts of the Roots and Shoots programme incorporated into Hong Kong's school curriculum.
