This is a video to quickly show my CNC with a Rack and Pinion Modification. The rack and pinion drive came from CNCRouterParts.com and I am absolutely thrilled with it so far.

  • I'm trying to choose the correct rack gears for my cnc router build.

Can you tell me where you purchased yours and what the part

numbers are? I'm having a hard time with all the pitch choices, etc.

    Thanks

  • @TheLonetreecreations The gears are 20 pitch and in a kit from cncrouterparts and I purchased the rack from Moore Gear, ask for Dianne, she will set you straight.

  • very nice! What motors are you using? I'm thinking of using a rack and pinion myself

  • @5150racecar1

I am using 305 oz/in from HobbyCNC with a HobbyCNC Pro Board.

  • @monkeyking114 Yes, both sides, just like the leadscrews. I believe it is a highly superior system to the leadscrews.

    Hi! Thanks for your reply...

With "both sides" I mean if you had to install the system on both side but in the same axis, like the two lead screws in the Joes CNC... if you are in front of the machine, left and right.

Do you think that it has more precision than the lead screw? if yes... I believe that I will use it in my machine.. :) Thanks!

  • @monkeyking114

It is now installed on X and Y (both sides), I used the system from CNCRouterParts. I think the system is far superior to the leadscrew system. You can see the all Rack and Pinion setup (except Z) running a 3D Test in the 3D Speed Test video on my youtube channel.

  • Hi! it looks nice! what rack and pinion did you use? what about the precision vs. the lead screw system? did you install it in both sides? sorry if I ask too much!!!! thanks!
