It's been said that while most people love their families, they don't always like them very much, and that emotional dividing line is the heart of this comedy directed by Jodie Foster.

  • Thank u so much for posting. I guess we all go through our differences with our loved ones but we should just be grateful with what we have, learn from the mistakes. Leave the bad behind and bring new things with our own families.

  • The comment u posted in here is really touchy, it reminded me of what my mom had gone thru. I feel festivals r a gr8 way to celebrate the spirit of being together as a family & community, so its just a suggestion: why don't u throw some such party instead of crashing @ others & call ur family, friends & all(even those at daggers at u)..... sometimes miracles happen over good food served with smiles & warmth.

  • i thought that blue car was going to t-bone them and spin the movie into a drama frenzy...

    whew,

    scared me.

  • We were never this dysfunctional but we never had the Norman Rockwell holiday either. So when my dad passed away so did many of our traditions. It became such an issue with my mom that it all finally ended. No holiday meeting whatsoever. So now our new tradition is to find someone's party to crash. As for my mom she flies to my older brother's home to be with the "good son" and his family. The rest of us fend for ourselves.

Oh well, its a new era.

  • If you dont' have some tears in your eyes at the end of Charles Durning's speech, you're made of stone
