A great little video from the expert team at cake-links, showing you how to ice a 1 and 8 number cake, and set on a cake board. http://www.cake-links.com

  • They make it look soooo easy!!

  • it's all practice! Once you have the basics, and know to smooth the icing upwards, and always mould corners first etc, it gets eaier the more you do. Some shapes are more diffiult e.g. number 9, but always use a good quality icing, like renshaw regalice

  • Thanks for uploading! So helpful!

  • your welcome, we are hoping to make some more cake decorating videos soon, probably on sugar modelling and wedding cakes

  • How do you get fondant into the holes of #8? I am making one in a few weeks and I would appreciate any tips! Thank you

  • Last time I tried to use fondant icing for my Nephews birthday dinosaur cake it got so sticky and stuck to the table and then when I used some icing sugar it just got really dry and ended up cracking! Will Trex definitely stop this from happening? I now have my dad's 50th birthday cake to make and I am getting a bit worried that the numbers will turn out cracked like my last attempt.

  • Where Can i Get the baking pans from?

  • Thanks for the help. You make it look so easy! How do you do the inside of a number 4 ? How do you get enough icing to fill the hole ?

  • I never would have though to pipe the inside of the second number first but of course it makes perfect sense!

  • Excellent advice thanks. My first ever round cake that I decorated with fondant icing ended up with a few creases/pleats down the side. Now I know how. If your doing more videos could you change the music (my hubby thought I was watching something dodgey!) Thanks

  • I would have loved to see how you did the #8, especially getting the fondant into the holes without breaking. It looks very smooth and even. Thanks for the tip on side by side piping though. Very helpful.

  • tnx

  • Very helpful video as well as your comments! What would you recommend for someone who wants to get in to cake decorating and sculpting? I want to go to school for it but while im getting my basics out of the way I want to practice so I can be more prepared, any help is greatly appreciated! thanks =D
