Okay, it took quite a bit of work, but I finally got the medium resolution textures to work in XWA. I worked at double this resolution, but it'd be very impractical to use that resolution in XWA. Sorry about any lag, recording at full size with FRAPS often makes me lag a bit; it's less laggy/not laggy when playing. Also, even though I recorded in 16:9, my actual monitor is 16:10. :-P So I changed my resolution with a hex editor just for this video. The sound should be in sync in this video, too. :) HD SHOULD be available for this video.

Thanks to Vince Trageton for helping me out when I needed it! With this, I should know how to do just about everything else later on. And I've learned that what I'm trying to do with the textures (using UVmapping with multiple textures assigned to each mesh) IS possible in XWA. I think JM might have done it a while back, but I'm not sure. You can't do what I just described with just LithUnwrap, though. It only allows you to assign a single texture to a single mesh, or multiple meshes to a single texture. I used Blender to assign groups of faces within a mesh to different textures; it's not that hard, you just need to know where to look. But the whole process of breaking up my UVmap, reassigning textures, and troubleshooting took me a day or two. O.o Hopefully knowing what to do, I'll be faster next time.

Okay so next, I've got to finish the cockpit model. Then I'll modify my base to make an exterior model. Then I just put it all together and I'm done. :)

  • PLEASE HELP! favorite games series of all time btw.. i have windows vista, and need direction on how to upgrade, and craft models, how to make it work. i only get these geometrically correct models but in black and white, and then another attempt i got these bacground bleeds, and smears until it completely unplayable at any resolution. help!

  • @carpetmonk I haven't heard of only black and white, but if you're only getting primary/solid colors, you need to turn on your hardware rendering in the game. You also need to know whether you're running in 32 or 64 bit. Then check the Soft/Hardware Problems forum to get rid of the bleeding problem (probably a Z-buffer issue) and for running custom resolutions to prevent distortions (you need BeHex edit for this, or something like that).

A talented new artist is going to release a Star Galleon.

  • Nicely Done ! Keep up the good work, You made my day ;)

I will reinstall this awesome game, with all the XWA Upgrade files !

  • @Muckytuja Sadly, I am a shmuck and the cockpit sucks. And since the cockpit sucks, it hasn't been released yet... Some day I'll get back to it and do what is necessary to increase its quality (which is quite a bit :-P).

  • this is is awesome dude

  • @TheRealTrixRabbit Thanks. :D

  • @TKnightcrawler thats totally greek to me, but ill be able to hash it out with a little study and the pointers youve generously offered, its much appreciated. the black and white opt's are the upgrades in non accelerated mode, once i switch to 3d-vid mode no matter the rez i get the pixelated bleed and disappearing models. i downloaded a new copy, in a more compatible format for poweriso, and its properly installed and in vs. 2.02. i was hoping for a vista video patch, alas. thanks 4 info man

  • @5uckRogers The Basilisk from KoTOR had its design based off of the StarViper from Shadows of the Empire. Perhaps it's an homage, perhaps it's laziness. ;-) The original design of the Basilisk was actually vastly different; kinda like a robotic war dog or something. The boss from the Bespin level in the Wii version of The Force Unleashed is probably closer to the original comic book design.

  • looks like a Mandalorian Basilisk ;-)

  • Great to see that people are still doing mods for this game. I may have to reinstall it & get these new mods. Even the ones I was using a couple of years ago made the game look way better, but I could never get the BSG Viper to work though. I wanted it to replace the A-wing.

I loved that I could replace some Cap ships with ST Constitutions too.
