He sets down the mighty from their seats and exalts the humble.

Bach's Magnificat, was composed in 1723 for the Christmas Vespers in Leipzig, but was later edited to make it suitable for year-round performance. The text comes from Luke 1:46-55, commonly known as the Canticle of Mary.
