At a press conference on Tuesday in St. Paul, clergy abuse attorney Jeff Anderson announces the settlement of a lawsuit with the Diocese of Crookston involving the sexual abuse of a 14-year-old girl by a priest on loan from India. The priest, Reverend Joseph Jeyapaul, who was also charged criminally by Roseau County authorities, is now a fugitive from justice and working in the active ministry in India. The victim, now 21, will disclose her identity at the news conference and release a disturbing petition showing her perpetrator around children in India where he is now in charge of 40 schools.

  • Very important to keep getting the message out. Thank You for your strength in coming forward.

  • 1182 residents of India, some probably kids, all who probably don't know him or understand the seriousness of the charges against him in the US, signed a petition saying that Jeyapaul is innocent and unfairly charged.

It's a good thing the matter is being pursued, because it gives the Indian authorities a chance to stop an abuser from hurting more children.
