Here is why it's easier to be a young electrical engineer or entrepreneur in China. Compared to my own youth in the West (where one was lucky to even have a local Radio Shack), in Shenzhen one can walk down to an entire district of tens of thousands of electrical component shops. Here is a walk in the first 2 floors of a 50 story building stuffed with such shops.... and this is but one of many such stores. It's a bit of a mess... with boxes everywhere, people yelling, even peoples' kids running around but they have absolutely everything there. On this trip I bought "the Mother of All" laser pointers (for uppity questions). Basically it's a 1,000 milliwatt laser (legal limit is usually 5 milliwatts). That is a bright enough laser to light a cigarette.
