Budapest, Hungary: Panorama of Danube and the city from Gellert-hegy (Gellert Hill) from Buda Castle Palace, Szechenyi lanchid (Chain Bridge), Erzsebet hid (Elizabeth Bridge) to Szabadsag hid (Liberty Bridge). A grand city, the capitol of the Kingdom of Hungary, the historic center largely constructed between 1860-1914 when it was one of the fastest growing, wealthiest, and most sophisticated cities in continental Europe. The historic architecture is impressive and, to the western eye, amazingly exotic. The city remains sophisticated, grand and compelling, the capitol of a king-less kingdom under a sacred crown.
