Goodnight, Dick! And Rest in Peace. Dick Martin, one of the showbiz greats...

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/...

This is a Department of Treasury film from the National Archives, circa 1967. The full title is ROWAN AND MARTIN AT THE MOVIES.

Here's the description:
Comedians Don Rowan and Dick Martin along with shots of Herb Alpert, Dan Blocker, Les Brown and band, Carol Burnett, Doris Day, Phyllis Diller, Kirk Dougls, Lorne Greene, Andy Griffith, Charleston Heston, Bob Hope, Don Knotts, Mike Landon, Dean Martin, Barbara McNair, George Peppard and Young Americans, singing Yankee Doodle Dandy, encourage public to buy U.S. Savings Bonds.

Provided by Jeff Krulik Archival Services.

Now that I think about it, this was likely made just before 'Rowan and Martin's Laugh- In' hit the TV airwaves. More details after some research at NARA this week. Thanks.

I love how the Barbara McNair was sexy without showing too much skin.

Amazing how Democrats & Republicans, liberals & conservatives supported our country just a few decades ago. Wish we could go back to that, but I'm afraid it might be too late.

The opening title music (by Bronislau Kaper) was "recycled" from his 1951 movie, "Three Guys Named Mike".

The Savings Bonds jingle, "Follow the Eagle" (by John J. Coyne), was introduced in their 1967 short, "Star Spangled Salesman".

Actually, this was produced in late 1968, during the production of Dan & Dick's 1969 MGM theatrical film, "The Maltese Bippy", at the time their TV show was #1 (which was why the studio signed them to star in it, and the Treasury Department thought it was a good idea to build an all-star theatrical "one-reeler" around them {as in 1967's "Star Spangled Salesman"}, with highlights from previous Savings Bonds shorts and spot announcements featuring Andy Griffith, Bob Hope, et. al.).

typical response of a person who doesn't mind being one of the conqured and oppresed. Then again they can kick in your door without saying they've warrant these days, so you have the kind of country a person like you wants.
