I believe this is the highest-in-elevation lake in the state of West Virginia. I was here on a Monday and the parking lot was fairly full of cars and trucks (mostly pick-up trucks, of course!). This lake is about as remote as it gets. On the bulletin board that all state parks have with a map of the area is a list of the nearest phone, for emergencies. The closest one was about 15 miles from this lake, if I remember correctly. So this is one area where you would not want to run in to trouble. I think even Death Valley, as far removed from civilization as it was, even had a general store, a phone, and a gas station.
So, the luxuries (necessities, one might argue) of life are quite removed from this lake. I don't even believe there was electricity at the lake. And cell phones? Forget 'em. I was, however, able to get a faint cell signal atop nearby Spruce Knob- that was, of course, with the wind blowing in the right direction.
When my cell wasn't picking up an ordinary tower signal, it was registering service from an emergency-only tower, so presumably one could call 911 if need be from atop Spruce Knob Mountain nearby and summon help.
The lake is not very large, so don't come here bringing your speed boat or water skiing equipment. I doubt the lake is very deep, either. The lake is, conversely, right in the dead center of nowhere, so peace & tranquility are all around you! Sadly, I could not stay long to walk the trails around the lake, as I had other things to explore.
i thought you were going to show some good trout fishing i diden"t come here to watch bee"s fuck ..lol

You should be there the day after the lake is stocked. about 7-10 boats and a lot of people.
