Olohega. A small, idyllic Pacific island north of Samoa and just south of Tokelau. Bought for a bottle of gin and 15 shillings an acre. Annexed to the United States. Its former inhabitants were evicted almost sixty years ago from their island and long to return.
To mystererochas:
Examine the facts before inserting your foot in mouth...you're not only ignorant, but all-encompssing arrogant - its obvious the kings and alikis you're referencing are the tyrannical, god-complex servants of "Long Island", your colonial attitude prevents a healthy dialogue, such stigma profanes and transgresses the human race much less Tokelau oral traditions - I'd like to see you say what you quoted before a Tokelau Toeaina Taupulega. Chew on this, "E o Kava na Tokaga"

THIS IS THE COMPLETE STORY. WE WERE THE ONLY PEOPLE ON OLOHEGA BEFORE COLONIALISM. Did you hear Alexander Jennings "defer comment (on ownership) to the State Departement?" Why would he would he defer statement when his fucking family owns the island? He knows it's fucking wrong, that's why. Instead of righting a wrong, they let's this facade continue. So, with that said, FUCK THEIR SIDE OF THE STORY.

so are you justifying this shit or what...palagi can never ever go somewhere and leave....if they do they alter everything and change this and that and eventually fuck everything up... this is a perfect example.....disagree? tell me one race of ppl palagi have stumbled upon observed and left to live happily as they were before they arrived....?

Now, hang on...the complete story has not been fully explained here...obviously I do not hold all the answers here, but, judging by i've seen from this feature...you only hear of one family's side of the story...as opposed to the greater scale of the picture...in saying that...i'm not siding with the so called Jennings family who currently live there...but the people who were evicted from the Island are NOT THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO EVER INHABITED THE ISLAND....just to clear the air on that note...

mrtamavai- Tulou lava, I was not born on Olohega. I was born in America. Do I want to live the rest of my life on Olohega, no. Do I want to visit the land where my father was born? Yes!
You are right, most of the Elders (in Hawaii) are gone, but not all of them. So if it takes the younger generations to speak openly on this subject then let it be.
Famakeke na tamaiti!
Mrtamavai - maybe you should hold a fono here in Hawaii so we can all share ideas? I know I would attend.

AlohaAtu what I'm trying to say is that must of the older generation is gone and now everyone wants to claim Olohega. I'm trying to stress out that everyone had a choice to leave or stay. IF you want to go Olohega then go. Dont let anyone stop you. But to return Olohega would be difficult because the Jennings Elders are gone. Whats to come of Olohega only the lord knows.

Leave Olohega alone?!...Leaving Olohega alone would be like abandoning my mother, my father, brothers and sisters, my own flesh and blood. I would never abandon my family or my island Olehega for they gave me life.
Tokelau, Olohega is your heritage. Never leave Olohega alone.

Everyone had a choice to leave or to stay and fight for the land. Jennings stay and fight for their mother land. That is why on paper Jennings has the right to claim Swains Island. Thank you to U.S that we are able to live in america. You all think about this WHERE WERE YOU BORN? You all asking for Olohega are you willing to leave america and live there. Leave Olohega alone.

It is my God given right to return to the land of my ancestors!
It is my prayer that those who "own" Olohega will see this video and do what is right, return Her to Tokelau! Do what is right, make peace with your Ancestors. Can't you hear their voices whispering it is time to return Olohega back to Her kaiga?
Haloa Olohega, Alofa lahi atu

Nobody should own land that the first people of land live on. I am very sad over this. Let us work together with the Hawaiian Independence Movement. We are brothers and sisters here in the Blue Continent (Ka Moana Nui). Mahalo to your Elders. Malama `Aina to the land.
