Closeup of working dead-beat (Graham) pendulum clock escapement made with Lego. The transmission ratio to the (recoil-less) seconds hand is 9:1 (1/3*1/3). The pendulum length (72 cm) exceeds the theoretical value
9.81*(4*9*2*pi/60)**-2 (69 cm) because it's center of mass lies above the bob.

  • hello have you a bild map or pictures

sorry me english is not good

    lg

  • @Djich1

Sorry, I don't have building instructions.

Everything you need to know you can see from the video.

Better start with the simple W4.

  • hi i love this clock and i want to build my own just like this so could you send me some pictures of how it works like how you get the pengulem to keep moving and get the hands to move like that and also how could i make it last longer...im thinking around 24hour and how can you add a second weight to make it last longer. thank you. you are a genius. Mike

  • I have no building instructione; you have to find out yourself. Better start with W4.

  • I know this is silly, but is there a way to maintain the contacts for longterm viability? Or just replace them as they wear out?

  • I don't understand the question.

As regards wear, I have no special experience with the Lego material.

  • that is baisicly counting seconds so its a stopwatch if u want to put it that way

  • That's amazing, so simple but working well!

  • @crashmgd1 The pushes it gets from the scapewheel

  • This one is pretty perfect tbh. almost no loss of energy from free fall. no recoil of the escape wheel, long and clean impulse surfaces. no impulse being given from the resting surfaces to the pendulum.

Only problem is that it has only 4 teeth, so your weight will drop fast. so you need to downgear it alot to make the weight last long enough.

Otherwise. this seems to my eyes to be the best escapement you have done so far. However, it is "just" a grahams, so not so exciting :P

  • it annoys me how most lego clocks use the old lego (I am talking about the bushes that fit into each other, they dont make them anymore -.-)

  • i would REALLY like to buy one of these from you. i would appreciate it greatly if you could relpy to me in a personal message.

  • ok .......................
