On September 2, 1998 the aircraft from Swiss Air 111 crashed into the Atlantic Ocean at the entrance to St.Margarets Bay, Nova Scotia. The crash site was 8 kilometers (5miles) from shore between the tiny fishing and tourist communities of Peggy's Cove and Bayswater. All 229 crew and passingers on board died.
