  • Curious how you get a cow only tag for Archery and either sex tag that carries over to rifle season? Do you have to be a resident? As a non-resident I was told by a guide if I don't fill my Archery OTC tag I can't use that tag in the other seasons! Wish I could hunt Archery then pick up muzzle loader if I fail with a bow! Is it possible in any unit with OTC?

  • Hi there,

I started by applying for and getting the either sex RIFLE tag in the general draw process. After I was awarded that tag, I purchased the archery cow tag over the counter. I'm not sure if you can do that as a non resident or not. I was allowed one either sex and one female tag. You can't have 2 either sex tags. Contact the DOW, explain that you're a non-resident and hopefully somebody can let you know what possibilities are available to you. Thanks.

  • Glad to see a guy who works for his elk get it. I have to ask though why a Colorado boy is sporting a Penguins hat!?

  • Hey there! Thanks for stopping by. I'm actually a Pennsylvania native. Therefore I'm still a Steelers and Pens fan, but have been living in Colorado for 13 years. Good eye on catching that :) Yes, it's definitely worth the hard work in the end. It took me many years to learn to never give up and to go all-out hunting every possible hour of daylight possible and walking as many miles as necessary. In any even, I was very blessed. Thanks again for your kind words and for stopping by!

  • Glad you got one. I was in Craig, CO hunting in Unit 11 last month. Had a great time, but didn't get an elk.

  • Thanks for stopping by. I'm glad you had a good time hunting. I used to hunt North of Craig up in the Black Mountain area. It is beautiful up there! I'm sure I'll talk with you again in the future. God bless!

  • @praisehisawesomename That's where I was...Black Mountain. Yeah, very beautiful. I wouldn't mind coming back out and hiking in the spring/summer. It was a nice test for my new JK. That jeep went anywhere I asked it. Yeah, was an awesome trip.
