Ryan Conklin at B&N on Broadway

On May 27th, 2010, author Ryan A. Conklin headlined a book discussion event at the Barnes & Noble bookstore at 82nd and Broadway in New York City. The subject of the event was Mr. Conklin's book, An Angel From Hell. The book is a captivating personal narrative of the author's experience as an infantryman serving in Iraq. The event at the bookstore included a session of Q&A with the author, and this video is a sample of that session, uploaded here to allow viewers to get a feel for what the experience of being there was like.

Fans of reality television will know of Mr. Conklin also as a cast member of MTV's The Real World: Brooklyn. In that 21st incarnation of MTV's long running series, the intensely engaging and entertaining Conklin quickly became one of the most popular cast members of the series ever. The highly emotional scene in which Conklin received word that he was being unexpectedly recalled back to Army active duty, and where Conklin agonized over the effect it would have on his parents, was one of the most memorable scenes on television in 2009.

This video was recorded at B&N by Mr. Conklin's self-styled #2 fan (who is content to let everyone else compete to be #1 as long as he can safely keep the still coveted number two ranking). The #2 fan takes this opportunity to wave at Ryan, and say it's easier to share through an open window than a raised wall.
