Join the discussion at http://blog.sportstrib.com - Sportscaster Bob Costas offers a commentary on endzone showboating, sportsmanship and conduct on the field of play. Is it too excessive or just in fun?
Also, black people aren't the only ones with TD celebrations, yet he only showed the black players.... Hmmm... Not saying anything particular, just a thought.
You score a TD for your team. Not easy to get those.
Then you celebrate with a goofy dance because you're happy? I don't see the problem. Maybe there would be a problem if players were shooting the bird, or mooning the crows, and I agree what Stevie Johnson did was unclassy, but these are a just people showing joyful emotions, and they get called stupid for doing so. This is not the 1900s, and the NFL is not MLB. That's why they call this the "No Fun League". The NFL will be boring soon....
He's right. There's nothing racist about this at all. I searched this video after hearing hype about racism, and it's just this well spoken Costas fellow justifiably criticizing the lack of sportsmanship in American culture, or as he puts it, a lack of style and gracefulness. I'm not a sports fan by any standards, but I can appreciate excellence in any form. That being said, excellence, in ANY form, is cheapened through arrogant showboating.
ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!! It's funny how a guy can beg for all the attention in the world when he scores, but is never heard from when he screws up. It's the "look at me" attitude that is diluting the American gene pool these days. A bad lesson to teach kids. Remember, it'll just get worse with each generation!
