I hate it when I'm driving along and I see someone in a car flick their cigarette butt out the window because I know that is littering, pollution and that that cigarette butt is eventually going to end up in Long Island Sound.
So I've created a public service announcement that radio stations can use anytime they want. I hear similar PSAs on radio stations all the time about everything from just getting out of the house and enjoying the weather, to not dumping motor oil on the ground because that, too, eventually ends up in our waterways.
The test of the PSA is as follows:
"If you smoke and care about the Earth at all, then don't flick your cigarette butts on the ground. Polluting so not cool.
If you flick your butt on the ground, eventually it winds up in Long Island Sound. There aren't big filters to take it out before it gets there.
Cigarette butts are the biggest form of pollution found during beach clean-ups around the world.
Carry something to put your butts in and throw them away properly.
The Earth is not a trash heap, unless YOU make it one.
This message brought to you by this station and Connecticut Environmental Headlines."
