watched a few vids now, seems everyone hand launches. does it have trouble taking off from the ground?

@999benhonda - It doesnt come with landing gear, so most people who havent added their own gear have to hand launch.

I'v e read some comments about the paint scheme and I'm also interested if you painted the P-51. My dad was with the 353rd FG during WWII. I believe they had some of the nicest looking P-51s with the yellow and black checked noses.

@sammy30842 - Your Dad belonged to a great unit! Yep, i painted the Mustang in 353rd markings and covered it in aluminium tape. If you click on the link in the information bar and scroll down, you will see lots of pics of my P-51s. Thanks

@Applesauceworld -Some people have put landing gear on, as hand launching can sometimes be tricky, but i like flying with no wheels hanging down.

that (no landing gear) and imagine that each blade of grass,to the landing gear of the rc model is equivalent to a small hedge for the real aircraft.

And i don't see any Mustangs taking off through hedges.

Hey again. Can someone please help me with a question. I bought a new receiver and battery for my mustang, but I dont which isnt working. I have a feeling its the battery because its a 8.4v 7 cell instead of the 10.8v 9 cell one. Do you think that is why it isnt working? thanks, nick .........happy flying

@Applesauceworld I tried putting landing gear on the Parkzone Mustang (the earlier version - "Ferocious Freddie"). The problem is, with no rudder control, it "squirrels" around all over the place. It won't roll straight so it's hard to get air speed for take off. Of course the damn thing was so underpowered, if you didn't have a decent head wind, forget it. I hear the newer version is better powered, though.

@billfromelma - Thanks for the compliments. I always try to get more sunset footage, but it is very dangerous to fly into a low bight sun. It really does blind you momentarily, and can dissorientate you so you dont know which way the plane is turning. I recently came close to losing my F-16 at 90mph flying into a lovely low sunset. At those speeds and low altitude you have just a fraction of a second to recover before the plane turns into dust. Thanks again!
