Freehold Kia | Don't Buy From Them | No Oil in Car | Used Cars | Freehold, NJ

Who sells a car and does not add oil after and oil change before customer delivery.. Freehold Kia. Recently, I purchased a used 2008 Honda Accord from Kia of Freehold in Freehold NJ.

For starters the car was a great price but was not originally list as-is online but when we took it for a test drive we found documents in the glove box that said as-is which explained the price. As it turned out from my research it was in a minor accident which was not a problem since there we no air bag deployment. When the car was fixed the shop must have forgot to replace the insulation in the passenger side door as when you closed the door it sounded hollow. This was pointed out to the salesmen who said that it couldn't be -- but they did have it fixed as part of my agreement to purchase.

Additionally, Kia of Freehold was running an internet promotion that stated if you make an appointment online and purchase a vehicle you would receive a free 19" TV with your purchase. This information had no stipulations or requirements other than schedule and appointment online and purchases the car. (After my purchase I was told since they already lost money on the car... etc. etc. they would not honor the promotion)


When I went to pick up the car it was still extremely dirty and their detail shop did a horrible job. They told me that they would clean it again as I signed the final paper work. Even after delivery when I came home I still found dog hair, easily cleanable stains, a cd and a ball under the seat. The detail staff at Freehold Kia did one of the worst jobs I have seen.

When I picked up the car I was told they did an oil change and the light was reset. After about two weeks of driving, I drive an hour each way to work, I started to hear a weird noise and whenever I would go around a turn my oil light would illuminate. Luckily, since I have a long commute I check my fluids every week to two-weeks and I checked the oil level even though my engine said 60% oil life. I pulled up the dip-stick and no oil was on the stick at all! Then I tried again and still no oil. Finally, I tried to open the oil cap and it was so tight I had to use a wrench to remove it. It seems that Freehold Kia most likely changed the oil filter but never added oil at all!! How does a freehold KIA dealership not know how to change oil -- that is scary.

Just to make sure my car wasn't leaking I added almost 4 1/2 quarts of oil to the engine and check again at the end of the week and the level has remained the same. Which confirms my findings the Kia of Freehold in fact never added oil to my car after conducting and oil change before delivery of the vehicle.

In closing, I sent an e-mail to my salesmen, Chris R, once about the problem with no response and I have sent two e-mails to the owner about the issue and the false advertising with the TV promotion and again, no response. So -- Freehold Kia got the sale and then they just don't care anymore.

The car has been running great but things like this really aggravate me and I feel taken advantage of and lied too. I'm not one to just write or post negative reviews as I feel a review is needed if something is good or bad whether it is a product or service and I truly felt that this review was necessary for the public to read.
