I have a munchkin cat and no they are not genetically modified...it is a genetic trait. Actually, despite their short limbs they are very agile climbers, and they are also considered to be one of the friendliest breeds of cat.

Munchkins shortness is a natural occuring mutation...They disappeared in WW2 and then resurfaced again in the 1980's with a munchkin cat named Blackberry, and todays munchkins breed descends from her line...Just to let you know. lol XD

I'm actually more amazed at how brown the cat is rather than how short its legs are. I don't think I've ever seen a cat that color before! XD
