We are back in British Columbia Canada once again and after several weeks of severely cold winter weather in Denmark, we are eager to wet a line. Winter in the Lower Mainland means steelhead fishing and the most popular place to do so is the Chilliwack River in the Fraser Valley. In this video blog, Rod follows seasoned Chilliwack anglers Chris Gadsden so he can learn a thing or two about winter steelheading in the Chilliwack River. Chris talks about where anglers should look for when searching for steelhead, what the broodstock capturing program is and how the season has been so far in 2010.

  • could u fish for these now in February?

  • @skatesesh56 Absolutely. The season runs from December to April. In fact, fishing is quite good right now.

  • Man I miss my Vedder Chiliwack river during the winter. Best season I had was 18 in one winter. Rod I see those Drenan floats are still the norm eh?

  • Not really a norm, only the rich and priveleged get to use 8 dollar floats without crying about it when they break off. :D ;)

  • in squamish where can i get steelhead and what bait and season

  • We fished that exact same spot lol

  • Was there by any chance a bridge close by to where you were fishing?if so then i know the excact spot you were fishing

  • @fishingwithrod

In Japan some floats go for $20 or more, so really what's $8 when it gets you lots of fish.

Rod I was gonna good tip about not wading into the water. I remember one morning I walked up to the river near the highway and man I was amazed to see about 5 fish sitting 3 feet from shore. Guys below were all wading in and up to their waist in water. So always bring your polarized glasses to see those fish.

    Long live the Jensen Egg!

  • nice 5*
