being too old is not really an issue considering he looks like he's anywhere between 18 and 21, he looks quite young for his age to be honest,plus tobey mcguire wasn't exactly young when he played a high schooler as peter parker/spiderman and neither was kristen, he was 27 years old but he also looked quite young for his age, so that doesn't matter as long as you look young enough to be portrayed as a high schooler, personally for me tobey is spidey no matter who goes on to play him, good or bad
