Easiest to refill with their clear cartridges! But not as easy as just getting a CISS. With a CISS and buying photo paper on sale I only pay 2-7 cents per quality 4x6 photo depending almost entirely on the cost of the photo paper and sale price (try Staples also for sales on better paper). The ink cost just isn't any issue with a CISS. Ink qualities do vary though, as does photo paper. Lots of info out there on this with an internet search. Install it easier after watching a few youtube vids.

So, you should always just test the chip after you refill them for the first time to see if they will work normally before you reset them?

Wow! It's pretty easy to reset em now. The resetter is cheap, battery operated, and fits in your pocket.

If you buy a printer at a local shop and get the extended warranty you can use as much ink as you want. After 18 months if it breaks down then return it and get a replacement. I've done this for a few years at my local stores and it has saved me a lot of money.

It won't burn as long as there's ink.

exactly they clean easy but the electrical side is irriplacible. its a lot of hassle to do all that when the oem canon cartridges are not really that dear for the amount of ink supplied in them. how much do you charge per cartridge ?
canon wont cover it if the ink has broken the printer. they have to proove this. if you use poor quality ink most that will happen is the print head will block up. at cartridge world we guarantee quality being esactly the same as original and we guarantee your printer. we charge half the price of the oem!

Refilling cli's and pgi's can burn your printhead out if the chip isnt reset or replaced.

i work in the industry and even if u run a canon cli printhead dry it wont 'burn' out thats utter dribble :)

I have worked in the industry for nearly nine years. you cant run a printhead dry and it would definetly cause a lot of problems if you did. its more the electricel side of the printhead that will burn out.

customers bring in canon printheads every day and if i clean them with the right tools they will print as new. the only 'canon' printheads that leave my shop broken are ones with electrical problems. they still have full ink tanks and these electrical problem were not caused from running dry. do you not reset your cli8/pgi5 then they get detected as a genuine ink and monitor bars work as normal :)

hp machines remember the id's or cartridges.
some other machines do as well but canon cli8's dont. u can reuse as many times as u want.
