Amber Tamblyn, America Ferrera, Blake Lively and Alexis Bledel reunite onscreen this summer as the lifelong best friends audiences fell in love with four years ago.

Based on Ann Brashares' best-selling series of novels about four young women who share an unbreakable bond through the unpredictable events of their lives, "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2" catches up with Tibby, Carmen, Bridget and Lena in the months following their first year of college.  Having been apart all year, their plans for the summer will take them even further along separate paths as each experiences the freedom, love, choices and challenging life lessons that mark their individual journeys toward adulthood.  Now, it will take more than a hurried note or even a treasured pair of pants passed back and forth among them to keep their lives connected.

Feeling displaced at home with her mother expecting a new baby, and disappointed that her friends opted to spend the summer away, Carmen (America Ferrera) accepts a chance invitation to work backstage at a theater festival in Vermont.  There, she surprisingly finds herself thrust into the spotlight for the very first time and simultaneously becomes the focus of the play's handsome young leading man.

Tibby (Amber Tamblyn), meanwhile, remains in New York City to wrap an NYU film project while cautiously taking her relationship with Brian McBrian (Leonardo Nam, reprising his role from the first film) to the next level.  When an unexpected crisis complicates everything, she must finally face her fear of getting close if she wants to let love in.

Bridget (Blake Lively), still struggling with the loss of her mother and questions about her past, travels to Turkey for an archeological dig before realizing that the truths she needs to uncover are buried closer to home.

And Lena (Alexis Bledel), separated from first love Kostas (Michael Rady) and studying at the Rhode Island School of Design, meets a free-spirited fellow art student (Jesse Williams) who forces her to choose between holding on to her memories or mending her heart and pursuing an exciting new love.

For Tibby, Carmen, Bridget and Lena, communication was always as easy as breathing.  Now, new priorities and rapid changes make it harder for them to keep in touch.  Messages are sometimes missed... or misunderstood.
But when it matters most, they will still reach out to those who know them best.  Finding a way to share their experiences as they always have, with heart and humor, they will come to value more than ever the immeasurable power of their friendship.

"The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2" opens nationwide on August 6, 2008, reuniting Golden Globe Award nominee Amber Tamblyn, Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner America Ferrera, Blake Lively and Alexis Bledel in starring roles.  Rachel Nichols also stars as Carmen's roommate, Rachel Ticotin as Carmen's mother, Oscar nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo as the archaeologist leading Bridget's field work and Emmy Award winner Blythe Danner as Bridget's estranged grandmother.

Directed by Sanaa Hamri from a screenplay by Elizabeth Chandler, based on the novels by Ann Brashares, "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2" is produced by Debra Martin Chase, Denise Di Novi, Broderick Johnson and Kira Davis, with executive producers Andrew A. Kosove, Christine Sacani, Alison Greenspan, Leslie Morgenstein and Bob Levy; and co-producers Steven P. Wegner, Yolanda T. Cochran and Gaylyn Fraiche.

The creative team includes Emmy Award-nominated director of photography Jim Denault, production designer Gae Buckley and editor Melissa Kent.  Music is by Academy Award-winning composer Rachel Portman, with music supervisor Julia Michels.  Costumes are designed by Emmy Award winner Dona Granata.

Alcon Entertainment presents a Di Novi Pictures / Debra Martin Chase Production, in association with Alloy Entertainment: "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2."   The film will be released worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.  Rated PG-13 for mature material and sensuality.

  • @Katniss2 That's just silly. Greek is a different alphabet, THAT would be the right way to spell it. Since the author decided to spell it Kostos for her character, that's how you spell it for THIS character.

Besides, names have different spellings all the time. My name (real name, not screenname) is a really uncommon name, so there are loads of different spellings, but there is only one spelling that would refer to me. Same with Kostos.

  • @Kellzooi Actually the greek way to say his name is Kostas. There isn't a "kostos" greek name. It's Kostas.I've read the books but I am just letting you know that the greek real way to spell and say his name is Kostas.

  • This movie sucked.

  • I know but the short 'o' sounds like short 'a' so people who haven't read the books spell it like it sounds.

  • Great video and song! I love this story and all four characters so much! Amazing movie with four incredible actresses at its lead.

  • in an interview with Letterman, Blake explained that during their time in Greece, she hurt both of her ankles and whenever she had to run, she started hopping instead. And she would also start clapping to look excited and hide all the hopping, as she does in 0:16 :)

  • kostas

  • love this.
