  • So how did it play out in 1993, how did Schanche lose the title with such a quick car, how did Gollop get on with that Peugeot? Why was Pat Doran's car's so unreliable?

  • If I recall Schanche didn't solve engine issues till the later part of 93? 93 being when the new divisions were brought in and Group B was outlawed! I think Schanche in the end had two different engines Long stroke and short thats why he improved by the end of the season.Jean Luc won in 93 because all the development work on the BX was done in 92 which he used for the last part of that season ready for the new 93 season he was one step ahead of everybody else they all had to catch up!

  • Gollops car was just a dog from the start not till he change to the 306 did things start to change, 93 was just a learning year with the 309 and not very good one at that which I think why the 306 was brought in.Pats Car was the first of its type the new updated Escort Cosworth? Under developed showed potential ,funds i think was a big issue. Martins was based on the Escort RS2000 he was known for doing is own thing in car building not always the obvious choice but always came up trumps.

  • @OddErikM3 my thought exactly, if it isn't him it sure sound like him ;)

  • Atleast schanche know how to speek english,, more than i can say about our petter solberg cheers from norway ;)

  • No doubt that Mr Schanche knew a thing or 2 about engines! Anyone know the dymo figures for this one? Seemed to be a bit overpowered compared to the others ;D

  • Schanche struggled to get the right compressor/turbine combination on his engine once turbo cars started to have to use restrictors (45mm) Martin told me he had tried 22 different combinations to obtain the best and most reliable dyno figures.

He blew up 5 engines testing (approx £50,000 ea) mostly through melting the pistons/ head before he got it right. Martin reckoned that after all the development/ blow-ups they had lost around 100bhp but actually gained around 100 lbs/ft torque.

  • Tiff Needell commentating ?

  • Martin Schanche still my favorite!

  • martian used the rs 2000 shell because is had something to do with the inner wings , more engine space or space for the front wheels... cant remember which ? but i do remember most of the suspension was from the rs200 and he tried to used a aluminum/carbon-fiber roll cage and floor . which was band
