  • these mustang mares deserve a free 5 star spa treatment :)

  • @ZenyattaLuvr Yes, they are amazing. They often stay behind during roundups when babies are falling behind. They are devoted mothers, sweet, gentle girls, very protective.

  • @HumaneObserver Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately not very reassuring to me...not your fault, you're trying. You are a good very good person.

  • @21noella Not very reassuring at all, I'm afraid. But honest. The more I learn about the way our government is "managing and protecting" the wild horses, the more involved I've become because there is not much reassurance to be found, and they need us to speak up on their behalf. And the Dept of Interior just appointed Callie Hendrickson to the Wild Horse & Burro Advisory Board; she is an outspoken supporter of killing "excess" wild horses instead of paying their upkeep in longterm holding.

  • @21noella Outrageous. The BLM allows 4 times as many cows as horses in wild horse Herd Management Areas (HMAs). For example, in Stone Cabin, the roundup ongoing right now in Nevada, which I will be at next week, they allow over 4000 cows on 500,000 acres but only 400 wild horses, call any more than that "excess." Callie Hendrickson would have the "excess" killed. There are actually excess cows in the wild horse and burro HMAs.. There is a lot to learn, but it is, very simply, politics.

  • So so moving...I can't stop crying...what happened to these horses, can you tell me?

  • I wanted to explain more about longterm holding. They are private ranches in midwest which BLM contracts with to house our wild horses.Public isn't permitted to witness this because they are on private property. So we can only take BLM's word—doesn't carry much weight with me, sorry to say-- that they are "great." We know BLM sells truckloads of horses out of longterm holding. We have FOIA'd this info to learn to whom our wild horses are being sold out of "safe" longterm holding. So far no info.

  • @ HumaneObserver i understand the love for Americas mustang but i also understand Americas financial crisis hence why so few are allowed to roam on top of that. i personally agree with horse slaughter there are so many "unwanted" horses that people cannot feed whereas feral cattle still feed us most Americans dont see horses as a viable food. and i honestly dont see any mustang advocates really stepping up to pay for the care these guys need. much less in the amounts they really need it.

  • save the mustangs

  • @21noella I am so sorry, 21Noella, I can't tell you because I don't know. Some were adopted... Some were shipped to long-term holding pastures where we cant see them and don't really know... We can follow up on the if we have specific tag numbers.
