This piece is Psalm 51, but first set to music by Allegri around 1630. It is one of the finest and most popular examples of renaissance polyphony. It is often heard in Churches of the apostolic Christian tradition on Ash Wednesday, immediately following Shrove (or pancake) Tuesday, marking Christ's return to Jerusalem. Beautifully performed here by The Sixteen, listen out for the simplicity, humility and reverence.

No, we see what happens when societies are distanced from the transcendent truth source of divine inspiration; the ancient Americas, ancient Africa, Asia, etc. in all their barbaric customs. They did not have the concepts of forgiving and loving your enemies. They had no concept of a loving God who did what was necessary to make a way for sinful beings to be in His presence without being automatically consumed. Truth MUST have a transcendent source beyond space and time.

Actually, the morons who made up god stole their values from prevailing morals in societies, simply because they make perfect sense.

"Reject transcendence when you've got nothing" would be a more accurate statement. Dismissing its importance in determining truth doesn't make it less vital.

Yes, your examples prove the relativistic nature of truth in a purely materialistic universe; it's all subjective and arbitrary thus, ultimately, meaningless.

Transcendence is not a "buzzword" to me; it's the core of the argument in determining truth. Only God is truly transcendent and thus, the giver of objective truth; He IS truth.

I'm just pointing out that morals and values in a purely materialistic universe are subjective and arbitrary. The boil down to mere preferences, e.g., "I prefer you not steal my stuff but it's not absolutely wrong if you do."

Atheists actually borrow Judeo-Christian values--often without acknowledging it.

Invoke transcendence when you've got nothing.

To me, the building of an ant hill isn't important, but to a colony of ants, it's the most important thing in the world.

To ants, the love between humans is unimportant, but to humans, it is the most important thing in the world.

Transcendence is a buzzword to you, because if you were truly transcendent, then you would have been able to see outside of, and beyond, your own myopic perspective.

We still have morals! But we don't need a god to love and treat each each other with respect
