This video shows how I remove my 24 foot 1970 Nova Offshore boat from it's trailer. I need to do some welding on the trailer and it's safer and easier without the boat on the trailer. Safety NOTE: Any time you lift boats it is important to be careful. The equipment shown here was designed and built by me with a significant safety factor to reach my comfort level. You should not attempt this if you do not know what you are doing. If you are unsure, you should consult a qualified professional engineer or boat mechanic. I am working in a manner that I feel is safe and the boat spent nearly a year in this rig last year. Your mileage may vary and please be careful before you do anything. Please do not copy what you see in my video without doing your homework!!!! The primary purpose of this video is to show other Nova owners and my friends how I pull the boat from the trailer. The surface is 6" thick 5,000 PSI concrete with 3/8" rebar 1' OC. The vertical members are 4x6x1/4" Steel and all loads set in such a manner that direct force is either on the member or captive. i.e. nothing is hanging on a weld. I NEVER work under the boat while it is suspended and should this rig fail the boat would drop to the ground.
