Here's a tune I wrote about Lenny Breau. I heard him play a few times in Toronto and got to jam with him once in Winnipeg. I started to write this song when I heard about his untimely death and had just re-written it before this recording at the Winterfolk festival in Toronto, February 2008.
I write everyday stories in the tradition of Randy Newman, Steve Goodman, Willie Nelson, Willie P. Bennett, Mose Allison.

Interesting that I would hear this line "musicians play for life" today, because as I was making breakfast, I was wondering to myself whether being a musician was "big enough" as I had been downtrodden by the rank and file for just being a musician. Now I have to ruminate over this for the rest of the day. Last time I saw Lenny was 1973. He bought me a sandwich.

What a great song. I agree with treadlightly. Lenny would have loved this. When the world lost Lenny, it lost one of the greatest.
