@Blakeboon Actually, Australia was founded mostly by settlers who came over during the Victorian gold rush 1851 - 1871. Australia didn't exist until 1901. By that time, settlers and their descendants far outnumbered convicts and their decedents. Today, Australians with convict ancestry make up a small part of our population, about 1 in 20 Australians.

@MrJohn3636 I'm American, and I think this kind of generalization is something that comes far too often. What he said is in no way something that majority of Americans would think. Almost all people I know respect Australia immensely. I hear insults to America coming from other parts of the world, but don't generalize about those countries. People insult people, nationalities as a whole don't. Sorry he insulted you, but I just had to say this since most Americans aren't like that.
