(Excuse the bad quality. I just quickly recorded this with my laptop built-in webcam!)

Affirmation for introverts by Sophia Dembling from Introvert's Corner - http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-introverts-corner

Affirmations:

•Just because I'm quiet doesn't mean I have nothing to say.
•Staying home is doing something.
•Managing my energy is a favor to myself and everyone around me.
•I like who I like and that's my right.
•There's nothing wrong with saying "no."
•I can love other people and still not be responsible for their good time. (Variation on a theme.)
•Listening to bores is not my job.
•Parties are supposed to be fun. When I stop having fun, it's OK to leave.
•My presence is a gift, not a requirement.
•I know what I need better than anyone else.
•Putting on my dog-and-pony show is optional. (This is a biggie for me. And what a relief!)

  • Glad you like them! IamMahud is correct: "dog and pony show" is when I feel it's my job to be sure everyone is happy and having a good time. Many introverts are so sensitive to the feelings of others, they take responsibility for everyone. And the "listening to bores" one...I, and a lot of people who have commented on the blog, often get trapped by chatterboxes because we are quiet.

  • @sdtex07 Are you Sophia? :) If so, I just want to say that I love your blog! So true about responsibility... And also getting trapped. It's great to share things like this because it's like an aha moment every time you hear others express your own exact thoughts!

  • I can relate with a few of those affirmations, especially with "There is nothing wrong with saying no" and i'd like to add one that could be related to the first one, "My opinions are as important as everyone else's". Have a nice week Mia ;-)

  • @BarelyNoticeable Yes that is a very good affirmation too that I think so many of us can relate too. I will add that to my personal list.

  • Thanks for sharing those :) The dog and pony show thing, I think, refers to putting on a performance to please other people.

  • @IamMahud Ah thanks for that. That makes sense.
