We tested the 2011 Chevy Silverago by towing a 6,500 lb trailer on Interstate 20 in Atlanta GA near Six Flags. We were comparing it to the Ford 3.5L Ecoboost engine and Dodge Ram Hemi. This truck was way underpowered and not able to handle the job like the others. It was a nice looking truck, but definitely not as powerful as the Ecoboost.quite surprising.

This video is #18 of a 22 video series all shot in one day. There is even a bonus 23rd video of a sneak peek of the 2011 Explorer--wow! Come see us anytime at http://www.mvford.com or LIKE us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/chattanoogaford or call us at 423-763-0316

  • 6.2 liter chevy would of been a nice comparision, but oh well...the 5.3 has been around for a while now and back when it first came out and for a while after that it was very competitive because half ton trucks were half ton trucks back then. the 4.5 diesel sounds very promising in performance, reliability, and gas mileage but gm shut down on that...if you were a person towing and hauling constantly the 6.2 would be a better choice with the selection available now. but thats what hd's are for.

  • @montanachevy You are absolutely correct on this. Alot of people think we were biased, but we do have a Chevy dealer too. It was just an all out fun day. Thanks for commenting.

  • im a gm guy myself... but i have to give it to ford they are making insane amouts of power in a v6... i only wish they would offer it at a lower price

although, i would have liked to have seen the 6.2 in this as it is comperable in power i havent seen any vids of the 6.2 towing and i can assure you it would have been better

  • @VseriesSSgxp The 6.2 in the Ford and Chevy are going to be such a low percentage of the market share....less than 5% in fact for both. Ford's 6.2L was there simply because it was a Ford event. It was more of a novelty for Ford than anything.

  • they should of made a 3.5 or 4 liter v8 with turbo charger

  • @RM250D8rzr 3.5L is 3.5L whether its v8 or v6....same displacement.....wouldnt you agree?

  • @yourchattanoogaford Not trying to start some horse shit here but Chevy come out with some turbo Cyclone and a Blazer turbo charged and Ford said "not having that" now that Ford has a turbo truck that is Sweet Killer of V8 engines they want to bump their chest! Well it took a dual turbo charged engine to do it. Go stock to stock...Much props to Ford for moving ahead faster then Chevy but Ford is making their customers pay for it! Not Chevy! Balls to Balls Chevy still wins! Fords still Ok!

  • At least its more poweful than most Tundras

  • What axle gear ratio does it have? Its acting like it has a 3.08 ratio axle. My dad has a 5.3L V8 silverado with a 3.42 ratio rear axle and it pulls 7,000lbs just find.

  • lol Poor Chevy 5.3 liter. Well, you know what I say? Put a supercharger on it.

  • I dont care if its ford chevy or dodge. As long as there Mexican or Canadian made. I dont care. Ford all day long. They should really put these trucks up against Pieces of shits toyota nissan and honda!

  • I LOVED myFord 5.4, its a shame they stopped selling it. I refuse to buy the new V6, no matter how much power it has.

  • The man with the camera sounds like Dave Ramsey.

  • chevy is still king of the road but eco boost is awsome

  • @DaaaBears85 that would not have been a fair comparison in this case though, if Ford included the GM 6.2, they would have put there's against it. The Ford 6.2 has more HP than the GM's btw. These were fair comparsons, the EcoBoost & 5300 Vortec are both $700 or so options,. The 6.2 is the same price as the Ford 6.2 option (around $1000 i think). You follow?

  • @strumem90 But if your going to tow, it would just be smarter to use a bigger engine to make the truck last longer and to the job better, just sayin, and the fords 6.2 would not win, the GM's 6.2 has too much horses and test proven ability than the fords.
