I understand these fuckers are coming out at a fast rate, but it won't keep up. What you see in the game is really early on, but in reality I've blazed about a quarter through the game already. The mistake I made with my Ultima videos is not being repeated, instead of using only one save and recording as I go a long, I decided to make two folders of Wasteland on my PC and use one to scope out the game and discover the best path for recording the video, then with my other save (with the same exact party and stats) I actually play through using the fastest method that doesn't skip anything while recording.

This way I actually remember to record the game and don't lose interest because I simply hate recording segments from the middle of games without prior context.

So that's the schedule, so far I have a huge load of videos filling up my capture folder that you won't see for awhile, I'll upload a handful of Wasteland videos every now and then just to keep up.

Anyways, now that I'm done with the giant expository bit on my recording schedule, I'd like to provide some information.
This video simply details grinding, killing, getting items, selling junk, and leveling up your party.
As you can see, I run through the Agricultural Center again to pick up some items I forgot in the cave earlier and sell the junk I got from Red Ryder in Highpool for some good money, unfortunatly there's nothing helpful to buy at the Desert Nomads' store.

The big points of interest in this video is leveling up. You can see at one point that I radio HQ and they apply promotions, this way you get some stats points to apply to your characters' attributes, I spend the majority of them on IQ and Luck.
IQ for more future skill points to improve my characters' abilities further, and Luck for better hit chance in combat. Hit chance is incredibly important since stronger monsters can utterly destroy you in a few turns earlier on if you don't get the initiative and get more hits in before they do.

I let go a little and decide to find some monsters to kill at the Desert Nomads, I'm usually careful about this since some of the random spawns there are incredibly tough. I got lucky and just get a pair of stronger mutated dogs, landing one of my characters 800 exp. which is an absolutely gigantic amount at this level.

At the end of you video you see me positioning my party for the next area.

  • you my friend are one weird fucked up dude, playing games from the 70's, weird comments you post, your videos in general... you creep me out man...

  • Owned by unorthodox humor.

  • No offense meant but quick question, why do you play games from like 20 years ago? I mean you could buy a decent RPG like one of the newer Elder Scrolls (Morrowind and Oblivion) or a world class game like Fallout 3..

So yeah why Ultima? (or why 20 year old games in general?)

  • Troll fails.

  • Also, Morrowind and Oblivion "decent", Fallout 3 "world class".

    Lulz, good one, I laughed.

  • Sure sounds like a well-planned video series to me, and, as always, I really appreciate the detailed text descriptions.

"Nuke Pooches", by the way? Sounds unpleasant.

  • Yeah, this game may have a unique setting, but it follows the RPG staple of recycling enemies yet giving them absolutely bizarre names.

It's something Atlus emulated well in The Dark Spire.

  • @BloodPigggy Wasteland is indeed better, but you should also try Fallout 1 and 2(not 3) They are rather excellent, and continue wasteland and fountain of dreams.

  • Seriously, what's with all the pre-pubescent grade school dropouts trolling about playing a game from 1987, in which there's actual reading involved? If this video bothers you so much, go play Spider-Man 3 on your X-Box while you wait for your testicles to descend.

  • I WIL FACKING GRIND YYOURZ ASS UP.

    GHO PLAYU GARS OF WAR

  • I prefer "wasting" my time playing an old game that can entertain me than playing a new one that only serves to blind me with it's fucking lighting. Also, learn some fucking grammar, it's "they're". Learn that before you even try to insult others, you fuck-up.

  • i wish his awfulness had facts, although it has none.

  • i love Fallout 1-3 + Tactics and any Mad Max esque setting in fiction in general, this looks right up my alley. Awesome.

  • i agree with most of these coments saying old games are more interesting and harder then newer ones... i just can't stand the old fight method of clicking punch or shoot. -_- terribly bland if you ask me

  • Morrowind and Obivion are bad choices for RPG. Hell they barely scratch what an RPG really is. I don't know what you mean by "world class", but I assume you're saying that the game's great. I say it's painfully bland.

Want a quick answer? Here's one:

These old games are RPGs to the very core. Nowadays developers just tend to focus on simple and easy games. Try playing any of the old Fallout games without knowing what you're doing; you'll get destroyed. They're harder and more rewarding.
